Leicestershire Estate Agents & Lettings

Leicestershire is a landlocked county in the Midlands, most famous for its sheep, Stilton cheese, and pork pies. It’s surrounded by seven counties, which include Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.

This area is continuously popular with students as living in the county doesn’t come with a hefty price tag but still allows for excellent connections and access to universities such as De Montfort and Loughborough. The M1 can be picked up just outside Leicester, which leads north to Sheffield and Leeds and south to London. It also connects to the M40, M6 and A1. Trains run to cities including Nottingham, Sheffield, London, and Birmingham. The capital can be reached in just over an hour from Leicester.

What is it like to live in Leicestershire?

This is a county filled with heritage and modernity, culture and opportunity. Housing is affordable and the close-by National Forest means plenty of green space to explore.

Leicester city is considered the heart of the county with a large choice of shops and restaurants. There’s a thriving nightlife scene here too thanks to the University of Leicester, plus entertainment venues for arts and sports.

Beyond the city are historic market towns, some which still host regular farmers’ markets as well as vintage and antiques fairs. Cobbled streets and winding alleyways with period properties attract families, those looking for a quieter place to live and young couples alike, with affordable rents too.

Schools in Leicestershire are another incentive for families to move here. Westfield Infant School and Great Bowden Church of England Primary School have both earned the coveted outstanding rating from Ofsted.

Leicestershire’s property hotspots

As well as Leicester attracting many people to this county, there is also Loughborough to consider. One of the most sought-after areas among house-hunters is Forest Side, with great options for amenities and space to enjoy shopping and local parkland.

The market town of Market Harborough has a lot of stunning Georgian buildings in the town centre, some of which have been transformed into independent shops.

Melton Mowbray is a classic English town long associated with delicious pork pies as well as its network of medieval streets. For the closest properties to the National Forest, the smaller town of Ashby-de-la-Zouch is perfect. Many homes here offer features such as exposed beams and redbrick.
