Hertfordshire Estate Agents & Lettings

Thinking of moving to Hertfordshire? Hertfordshire (abbreviated to Herts) is one of the home counties in southern England. It is bordered by Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, Essex, Greater London, and Buckinghamshire. With motorways and rail lines connecting it easily to London, this is a great place for commuters to consider, not to mention families looking for towns and villages with good school, entertainment for the children and green space to relax in.

What is it like to live in Hertfordshire?

Popular with commuters, trains from the Southern part of Hertfordshire serve various parts of London. St Albans and Harpenden run trains to St Pancras, Stevenage and Welwyn run trains to Kings Cross, and Hemel Hempstead and Watford run trains to London Euston. Despite this urban feel, the county is also filled with country parks and numerous cycling and walking paths are worth exploring.

Many of the schools in the county achieve good or outstanding Ofsted ratings, with families easily able to rent or buy affordable larger properties compared to closer to London. Many of the country’s top universities in London are also easily within reach if students don’t wish to move the more expensive capital while they study. These include UCL, Imperial College London, and Royal Holloway.

Herts is filled with independent restaurants and shops, making it an attractive place for small businesses to move. It also attracts plenty of tourism, with St Albans Cathedral, Verulamium Park, and Ventura Wildlife Zoological Gardens as just a sample of the attractions on offer. Museums and theatres in the main cities of Hertford and St Albans show a variety of performances – so you’re never far from a cultural experience.

Hertfordshire’s property hotspots

St Albans is perhaps the area’s best-known town. Historic and quaint, yet with a modern twist thanks to its connections to the capital. A thriving rental market is here as well as modern estates for families.

Hemel Hempstead offers green space and the beautiful Frithsden Vineyard, set in the foothills of the Chilterns and surrounded by smaller villages.

Chorleywood attracts tourism as well as people looking for as much open space as possible in the Hertfordshire area. Chorleywood House Estate is set on 170 acres of peaceful landscape, and the town itself offers period properties for those looking for a home with character.
