Welwyn Garden City is a ‘new town’, built in the 1920s to combine the benefits of countryside and city life. Today it’s a thriving community with great schools, shops, bars and restaurants, as well as superb transport links. The A1 goes past the town and the M25 is only 15 minutes away, and there are at least two trains to London each hour (30 minutes), as well as to other big towns, including Stevenage and Peterborough.
The town has a scenic centre with many outlets, a train station, bars and restaurants. It can be accessed via the A1 motorway with links to the University of Hertfordshire and London.
The town’s arts centre, Campus West has a thriving cinema, a theatre with festivals and live music. Welwyn Garden City is also surrounded by beautiful countryside. There are even Roman baths preserved under the A1(M), which are open to visitors.
